I Just Quit the Best job I ever had.

This is a bitter-sweet moment in my life.

As of February 16, 2021, I will be stepping down as the Chief Content Officer at The Futur. This is not a decision I arrived at easily, but after much reflection, I think now is the right time for me to explore my own path.

I’ve been working with Chris Do since 2006. He was my teacher at Art Center, and has been my mentor ever since. Through Chris’ guidance (and the many others who have helped me along the way), I’ve transformed. From a curious, shy kid with talent, into a creative directorand now, into something more. I’ve become the most confident I’ve ever been: in my ability to solve problems, articulate my thoughts, and be in tune with my inner voice.

That voice has blossomed into something beautiful over the past few years, and I feel like I’m in my absolute creative prime. Now I feel like I need the space to be able to explore who I am on my own and give myself the opportunity to see what I am fully capable of.

It’s equally scary and exciting to think about who I can be out there. I see nothing but possibility because of what I’ve learned working at The Futur:

If you want something, build it.
You can choose your own path.
It’ll be difficult work, but with every challenge you overcome, you become better.
As you grow, the bigger impact you can make.
And if you use that power to help others generously,
you can change people’s lives (and your own) for the better.

This is what I take away after seeing what we’ve built together at The Futur. A community of over 1 million people who have taken the uncertain road of a creative career, figuring it out, and then thriving. Seeing the community, one person at a time, realize how to value themselves, so they can bring value to others, has been the most rewarding part of my time at The Futur.

Even though I’ve found great joy working at a company with great people on a mission I admire, I feel like we all owe it to ourselves in our lives to develop our individual voices and explore our own paths.

I don’t know where I’ll end up, but I’m ready to discover the beautiful possibilities out there for me and write the next chapter of my story.

Thank you, Chris and The Futur community, for making this time so special.

I’m proud to be 1 of the billion people you have and will impact. #1BminusOne
